Hosea 11:1-7
ISRAEL’S REFUSAL TO RETURN TO ME
“My people are bent on turning away from me; so they are appointed to the yoke, and none shall remove it.” Hosea 11:7, RSV
There is an adage that says, “A dog that will be lost will not heed its owner’s warnings.” Our God is loving and kind, He does not want any of His children to get lost or perish. He consistently and relentlessly sends words of rebuke and warning to His erring children to repent and return to Him. But more often than not, when a man is comfortable and satisfied, he forgets and turns a deaf ear to God’s warnings and rebuke.
Today’s passage reveals that ungrateful Israel forgot God and kept sacrificing to the Baals. God called on them to return to Him, but they refused, thus, God declared that they would live in perpetual oppression and be under a yoke and no one would remove it. Friend, are you straying away from God? God is waiting for you to return to Him, delay is dangerous. To as many who come to Him, He will by no means cast away. Do not be like the ungrateful Israel, return to the Lord today and you will be happy you did.
• Birthday Blessing: Though prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Psalm 23:5

Sin and the child of God are incompatible. They may occasionally meet; they cannot live together in harmony. - John R. W. Stott
